Get ready for smell-changer. Say goodbye to the days of having to constantly reapply deodorant, pit stains, and that awkward "smell check."
Drunk Elephant recently released a new body care line, and this product is undoubtedly the star of the show. The slogan being, "formulated to soothe and moisturize delicate underarm skin, while keeping odor at bay. Suitable for all skin, including sensitive, Sweet Pitti is free of baking soda, essential oils and aluminum-derived ingredients." I am sure you are now asking yourself how a natural deodorant, one with no anti-perspirant qualities, could actually provide 24 hour smell relief?
This cream deodorant has instructions to only apply once a day to clean, dry skin. While this may seem a bit odd, it allows for the formulation to directly seep into the skin. It's main ingredient is mandelic acid (an AHA, in fact my favorite AHA), that is pH balanced as well. Think of it like a nightime serum, you would not go ahead and apply your retinol serum on dripping wet skin. Mandelic acid kills odor-causing bacteria, and the other main ingredient, arrowroot, absorbs wetness from sweat. Another star ingredient is the shea butter, it is an emollient that provides skin-barrier protection. Despite the product being "fragrance free," it does have a very mild and pleasant natural scent to it.
The bottle features a bottom dial, that should be twisted about 1/4 of the way per application. As denoted on the website it can be applied with fingers, which I often find myself doing, as the amount of dispensed product is usually more than I bargained for. Despite the cream formula it usually dries almost instantaneously, so you do not have to do the 30 second arms up routine, that is found with most gel and cream based formulations. The best part about the cream? You will not have to worry about those awful white stains that are inevitable when getting dressed.
This deodorant definitely provides 24 hour smell relief in myself, along with the various individuals who talked me into trying it. The only discrepancy would be if you are doing an intense workout, I find that it needs to be applied after the fact. However, in most cases I would assume a shower would be in order following a heavy workout (if not there are many "shower wipes" on the market).
The main reason myself, along with others prefer this deodorant, is that I find it causes a huge reduction in sweat stains. If you are someone who has considered underarm botox, I highly recommend at least trying this product prior to that, and possibly save yourself a few thousand in the process. As we enter the summer months, those crop tops that are tight under the armpit, that seem to be impossible to avoid stains with, I found this caused at least a 95% decrease with this issue. The one reason I would avoid this product is if your armpits are not free of hair, it does not work well if it cannot make direct contact with the skin.
